Why backpackers come to Lumbini
Lumbini is quiet on purpose. The Maya Devi Temple marks the traditional birthplace, and the monastic zone around it is a long grid of temples built by Buddhist countries. A bicycle is the right way to see it.
Stay a night in the bazaar rather than rushing it as a day trip from the highway. The sacred garden has an entry fee, and the middle of the day is hot for most of the year.
