How do I reach Langtang?

By bus or jeep from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, then on foot. The drive takes most of a day.

Are there hostels in Langtang?

Not in the city sense. You stay in teahouse lodges in Syabrubesi, Lama Hotel, Langtang village and Kyanjin.

How many days is the usual walk?

About a week covers the walk to Kyanjin and back, with a rest day. Shorter trips stop lower in the valley.

Why backpackers come to Langtang

Langtang is the closest of the high valleys to Kathmandu. The usual plan is a bus or jeep to Syabrubesi, then two or three days of walking up the valley to Langtang village and Kyanjin Gompa, sleeping in teahouses.

It was rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake and is quieter than the Annapurna and Everest circuits. Go for the valley and the Tamang villages, not for a town with hostels. Cash and warm layers matter once you leave the road.
