Best Time to Visit Nepal
Month-by-month guide to Nepal's seasons for trekking and city travel.
Autumn (October–November)
Clear skies after the monsoon make this the most popular trekking season. Expect busy trails and higher demand for flights to Lukla.
Spring (March–May)
The second-best trekking season, with warmer temperatures and rhododendrons in bloom. Haze can reduce long-distance views later in spring.
Winter (December–February)
Cold at altitude and some high passes may close, but lower treks like Poon Hill are quiet and clear. Kathmandu and Pokhara are pleasant by day.
Monsoon (June–September)
Heavy rain, leeches and landslides affect most trails, and flights can be delayed. Rain-shadow areas such as Upper Mustang are an exception. It is a cheaper, greener time for city travel.
