Why backpackers come to Pokhara
Pokhara sits about 200 km west of Kathmandu on the shore of Phewa Lake. Lakeside, the strip along the eastern shore, is where most hostels, cafes and adventure operators are found.
It is the usual start and finish point for Annapurna treks and is known for paragliding from Sarangkot, boating on the lake and short hikes to the World Peace Pagoda.
